That said JBL actually made power amps to drive their speakers along with pre-amps for gear connection. Dunno how much the right one would cost now tho'.. How I wish we had a 60-75w / channel tube amp during that time to try , the 077 tweeter of the L 65 made the speaker a bit brighter than the other JBL's of that time ( L166, L 100.

I have found the highs to be more detailed than most JBLs I have heard. There are 3 versions of the L65- Jubal, L65A and L65B. The woofer (126A, 122A then 129H) and crossover are different but the 077 tweeter and LE5-5 midrange are the same. I have seen these on auction at >$1,000 and the tweeters alone can bring $600.
